Firefighters battled an early afternoon fire that engulfed the front of a white three-story house in Farmindale on Prospect Street at the Weiden Street intersection, the police said on Thursday.
A News 12 video showed he home’s entry way and the facade of the first two stories on fire despite the water being poured on them.
The Farmingdale, Plainview and Bethpage fire departments later extinguished the fire, a Nassau police spokesman said.
A Fire Department official was not immediately available to comment.
On Wednesday, January 14, 2015 grocery deliverer, Mark Rivera noticed smoke pouring out of a second-story window at 790 Broadway.
Sleeping residents inside did not notice the smoke until Rivera and the owner of nearby C-Town rushed into the building to knock on doors.
Firefighters arrived soon after and battled the fire for two hours before they got it under control. Thankfully, no residents were injured, but a total of 12 residents were left without homes.
Champion Adjustment is working with these families to rebuild what is lost and help them move forward as quickly and comfortably as possible. The building is now being knocked down and exposure is being tarped and secured.

Congratulations to our Sr. Adjuster, Richard Dank. He was highlighted in the New York Real Estate Journal dated July 15-28, 2014 Page 14C:
Richard Dank is a licensed public insurance adjuster, representing all named insured’s in the event of property damage. They do not represent the insurance companies; they are an adversary to the insurance company. They level the playing field to make sure clients receive the maximum settlement possible. They solely prepare, present, negotiate and settle claims on behalf of the policy holder. In the event of a fire, flood, pipe break, hurricane, windstorm, collapse or any other covered peril, they have the knowledge, experience and staff to support and protect your client whether it is a small water loss or a catastrophic event.
Congratulations on the excellent write-up, Richard!

Baldwin Fire Department was alerted to a report of a house fire at Verity Lane. Additional information from the caller reported smoke coming from the ceiling on the second floor. A second call a few minutes later reported an attic fire. Units arrived to find fire in the attic of a two story high ranch private dwelling. Shortly after arrival, the fire self vented through the roof. The fire destroyed the attic and smoke and water heavily damaged the floors below. One firefighter was transported for minor burns and the Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced family.
